Ryerson University….Canada exchange!
Yesterday I finally applied for the university exchange in
Canada…took my a little while to write my personal statement, I don’t know why write is always the hardest task for me!!I guess it is always difficult to say the right thing, even more when it comes to make others believe that you are or will be good in a specific subject! …Anyway, finally the deadline helps me to organise my ideas and this is what I wrote at the end:

Ryerson University Exchange
Having thoroughly enjoyed my first year at the Media school in Bournemouth University, I see the opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience, with the possibility of an international exchange with Ryerson University in Toronto (Canada). I have been studying Media, more exactly Television and Film Production, during the last six years in countries like Colombia and Spain. During my studies in Madrid (Spain) and Bournemouth (England) I met quite a few people from different places around the world; all of them with a common interest, the dream of working in making media and communicate with creativity.
RYERSON UNIVERSITY is for me, an exceptional opportunity to keep improving my acquired knowledge and enhance my production skills, which will not only provide me with the understanding of the operation system in the Canadian media industry, but will also certainly help me in terms of my professional future. The School of Radio and Television Arts (RTA) attracts me because of the latest technology they use (the first systematized high definition television studio). The experience that studying in Canada will give me through using equipment which I have never used before, and most probably wont be able to use in the next couple of years will be a positive influence in heightening my technical and academic knowledge.
Furthermore, as other students that already have participated in this exchange mentioned, all the university staff and tutors are very qualified, which is one of the most important aspects for me in terms of choosing a place to study.
Another important point is that this experience will connect me with other cultures and through this, I can have the opportunity to share information with students from different countries about different ways of production and other common subjects. Due to my own experience, this kind of practice is not only productive as a personal overcoming, but will eventually help me in making sense of all we have previously learnt in a more productive way.
To summarize, I see myself as a very adaptable person that will get maximum benefit from this opportunity. I feel I will evolve professionally as a person, to find or get a more clear idea by which I can use in my future role within the media industry.
…I’m not too sure how good it was, but hopefully they will consider me into the group of 8 that will go to Canada next January
….Fingers cross!!
